Non-violence Actualité
NON-VIOLENCE ACTUALITE is a resource center of non-violent management of conflicts. It publishes a bimonthly magazine as well as educational material aimed at developing the prevention of violence and promoting rational education.
Recognized as an institution of “popular education” by the French Ministry of Youth and Sport in 1991, the NVA association spreads in France, since 1990, cooperative games teaching cooperation and solidarity, rather than aggressive competition. NVA has created group games for all ages, starting from the age of three. With its partners of the French Coalition for the Decade, NVA is committed to promoting education “to values, attitudes, behaviors and lifestyles that should allow children to settle any dispute peacefully and in the respect of human dignity, of tolerance and of non-discrimination” (UN recommendation aiming at promoting a culture of peace and non-violence during the Decade 2001-2010).
A monthly magazine since 1978, that has become bimonthly since 2001, Non-Violence Actualité aims at unfolding experiences – professional or not- that develop concrete answers to violent situations (in the school, in the family, in the neighborhood…), while valuing the respect of others, democracy, citizenship and the learning of conflict management. In each issue, NVA gathers resources – persons, experiences, tools – that favor these aims, and publish regularly training opportunities on conflict management, non-violent communication, mediation, non-violent action…
While telling field experiences, Non-Violence Actualité participates in the construction of a citizen network engaged in social change and in the promotion of a culture of non-violence. NVA has become a meeting point for all those who, faced by violence, wish to “understand in order to act”.
Through the development of a “resources in face of violence” pole, the association wishes to make the non-violent approach an option open to all those who find themselves faced by violence in their daily lives.
Besides, NON-VIOLENCE ACTUALITE edits and publishes educational tools : books, cartoons, CDs, dossiers, cooperative games, educational toolkits, etc. An annual Resource Guide presents all these documents and numerous resource addresses on the subjects of communication, listening, conflict management, mediation, non-violence and cooperation.
